BELMOND — The Belmond Independent has transitioned to a new website host and domain as part of an ongoing effort to better serve its readers, subscribers and advertisers.
The newspaper’s new website, www.belmondindependent.com, offers improved performance, higher-quality e-editions and a more reliable overall digital experience. Readers can continue to access articles and full newspaper editions online, while new and returning subscribers now have the ability to subscribe or resubscribe directly through the website.
“This change was made with our readers and advertisers in mind,” said Chris Nelson, publisher and owner of The Belmond Independent and Nelson Media Company. “We want our digital presence to reflect the quality of the journalism we produce each week and make it easier for people to access our content.”
Nelson said the decision followed challenges with the newspaper’s previous website provider, including customer service limitations and technical complexities that were difficult to manage for a locally owned newspaper.
“Our previous provider did not have the customer service vision we had hoped for, and the intricacies of the platform were very challenging for a newspaper our size,” Nelson said. “Making this move allows us to better support our readers and our business partners.”
The newspaper brings nearly five years of experience working with its current website host and plans to continue expanding the platform with new features tied to its hyper-local media strategy.
“We are deeply committed to hyper-local journalism,” Nelson said. “This website gives us the ability to enhance the experience for our readers, provide better digital options for advertisers, and continue investing in local coverage that matters most to Belmond and the surrounding communities.”
Advertisers will be able to place digital advertising on the new website, offering improved visibility and a more engaging experience for customers.
The newspaper will no longer post content on its former website, belmondnews.com, and readers are encouraged to update bookmarks and visit the new site for news, e-editions, subscriptions and advertising information.
Nelson thanked readers, subscribers and advertisers for their continued support as The Belmond Independent continues to invest in improved digital service while maintaining its focus on high-quality local journalism.
